Welcome to the Nebagamon Lake Association!
Founded in 1985 by a passionate group of residents, the Nebagamon Lake Association (NLA) was built on a simple, powerful mission: To protect the beautiful waters of Lake Nebagamon, enhance our shared recreational opportunities and foster a welcoming community among neighbors. What started as a grassroots effort has grown to over 200 property members and families. NLA supports a range of lake protection and community initiatives, including:
Healthy Lakes & Rivers: Through Wisconsin DNR’s Healthy Lakes & Rivers program, the NLA helps lakeshore property owners reduce nutrient and sediment runoff, protect water quality, and restore nearshore habitat. Grants and additional NLA financial support helps property owners implement practical shoreline improvements projects. Healthy Lakes & Rivers
Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Prevention: NLA supports lake protection effort to prevent and respond to aquatic invasive species (AIS) including zebra mussels and Eurasian milfoil. Education, monitoring and community participation are essential to preventing introduction and responding quickly if an infestation is detected.
Clean Boats Clean Waters: NLA fund watercraft inspection program to help prevent the spread of AIS like Eurasian watermilfoil, spiny water fleas and zebra mussels. Clean Boats, Clean Waters (CBCW)
Fish Habitat Enhancement: NLA supports fishery habitat improvement and restoration through collaboration with Wisconsin DNR, local officials and lakeshore property owners. Projects have included fish stick installations and historical walleye stocking supported by private donations and organizational partnerships.
Lake Monitoring & Clean Water: NLA volunteers measure, record, and analyze key indicators of lake health. Through water quality to tracking of loon wildlife, we partner with the Wisconsin DNR to turn field data into action plans.
Responsible Boating - Enhanced Wake Surfing: NLA promotes boating practices that balance recreation with the protection of our shorelines, wildlife habitats and public safety. We promote proactive education and responsible boat operation including wake enhanced surfing only in designated areas identified for Lake Nebagamon. Community Service: A healthy lake is supported by a connected community. NLA hosts member events and contributes to projects that benefit the broader Lake Nebagamon community.
These initiatives represent just some of the work NLA has accomplished and will continue to support. Our lake and our village thrive because neighbors work together. The participate and support of our members make these lake protection and community program possible.
